Welcome to the UCP 600, ISBP 821, and ISP 98 Decoded course for CDCS preparation!!!
A letter of credit and a standby letter of credit are two of the most widely used instruments in international trade finance.
UCP600 is a set of rules that govern the issuance and operation of a letter of credit. CDCS certification is a highly sought-after certification for letter of credit practitioners, and UCP600 is the most important rule that makes up almost 60% of the CDCS curriculum. If you do not understand UCP, it will be challenging to progress. However, understanding UCP is a lengthy process throughout CDCS preparation.
Similar to UCP 600, ISBP 821, or International Standard Banking Practice for the Examination of Documents under Documentary Credits, is a set of guidelines issued by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to help in the uniform interpretation and examination of documents presented under letters of credit.
Further, ISP98 is a set of rules that governs the issuance and operation of Standby letters of credit and is also a part of the CDCS exam syllabus with 10% weightage. It is a common perception that ISP98 is too difficult because of the lengthy and complicated sentence structure used throughout the document.
Therefore, I have created this course to cover all 39 articles of UCP600, all the paragraphs of ISBP 821, and all the 10 rules of ISP98 in an easy-to-understand and concise manner to save you time before you start preparing. I have added examples, case studies, and graphical representations in all possible cases to explain the articles and other facts during the course. I assure you that by the end of this course, you will have an in-depth knowledge of UCP600, ISBP 821, and ISP98 that will help you achieve certification on your first attempt. Although this course is specifically designed for CDCS aspirants, understanding UCP, ISBP, and ISP is equally important for anyone working in or intending to work in the field of trade finance.
Most importantly are you afraid to proceed with your CDCS preparation because you have no trade finance experience? Do not worry. I am an example of someone who passed the CDCS exam on the first try without having much trade finance experience. Keep learning!!!
