Understanding Theology from the Bible matters. Everyone is a theologian because everyone has thoughts about God. The question is, Are you a good theologian or a bad theologian? As followers of Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to grow in our knowledge of the truth so that we might love the Lord and others more. This class, which is part of a four part series, is designed to give an overview of the theological truths that accord with Christian orthodoxy.
Systematic Theology IV will develop the truths that the Bible teaches about salvation, the church, and the end times. In Christ, God is reconciling the world to himself, he is gathering his people, and he will finally and fully establish his kingdom and the glory of the Lord will cover the face of the earth as the waters cover the sea.
In this course, we will begin by discussing salvation. God, in his righteousness, makes sinners righteous. How does God give spiritual life to those who are dead in their sins and trespasses? How does he replace our stony hearts that are unable to beat for the things of God with a heart of flesh that loves God and delights in him? How does God forgive, save, set us apart, and ultimately bring us tom himself forever?
We will then turn our attention to examining the church. The church is God’s plan A for rescuing the world and there is no plan B. What is the church? What are marks that distinguish a healthy church? What is baptism? And why do we celebrate communion?
Finally, we will look at eschatology, the study of the end times. It’s the subject people often want to know the most about but the subject we know the least about. How will God bring this world to its appropriate end? What should I expect in the last days? What does the Bible say about Heaven and Hell?
I designed this course for all those who are interested in learning more about the God of the Bible and the truth that he has revealed about who he is, who we are, where we came from, and where we are going.
Thank you for considering joining me on this eternally significant, life altering adventure of knowing the truth and embracing the truth. I hope you will get started today.
