Welcome to the “Augmented Reality for Activism”. This course is designed to teach you how to use art and technology to make a lasting impact through augmented reality. In this course, you will learn how to build an augmented reality experience without any coding experience using Unity, and how to use this experience to make a statement, build community, and spark a movement.
The course is divided into eight projects, which include creating AR content for the experience, creating an AR scene, creating lighting for the AR scene, creating an AR app UI, creating an app icon, creating an app splash screen, creating a toggle UI, and building a final app. Through these projects, you will learn how to place a 3D model into augmented reality and control the 3D model with onscreen buttons and sliders.
We will begin the course by exploring why art is important for activism, and how it can be used to make an impact statement. We will also discuss the basics of augmented reality and how it can be used to enhance the impact of thought-provoking art with a user interface and user controls.
We will then delve into how to use augmented reality to make a statement, build community, and spark a movement. You will learn how to take advantage of digital technology to increase the visibility of artistic expression, and how to use AR to create an immersive visual that goes beyond video and pictures. You will also learn how to create an experience that forces a reckoning with social issues, and how to combat the fantasies people have by contextualizing the realities.
Finally, we will explore how to use AR to make a lasting impact, and how to empower users to use the art to express themselves and make statements that are shared around the world. You will learn how to develop an app that people around the world can download to their phones, creating an experience where people can interact with digital art in the real world.
By the end of this course, you will have learned how to use art and technology to create an augmented reality experience that makes a statement, builds community, and sparks a movement. You will also have learned how to create an app that empowers users to use the art to express themselves and make statements that are shared around the world. Join us in this exciting journey to learn about the power of augmented reality in activism!
