Welcome to the business fundamentals course. My name is Benedikt and I will be the trainer for this course.
As a business manager, you are given the major responsibility of managing activities for a business. You might, at some point in your career, want to own a company, or you already do. In this case, you are facing many decisions every day, and people rely on you to develop and manage a successful business. In order to meet their expectations, and your own expectations, there are some skills that are fundamental for running a company. You should have a sound understanding of accounting, marketing and administrative procedures that are required in order lead a business to success.
Business in generally can be separated into two parts. The first part is the scientific part, the numerical part, where you need mathematic skills and do calculations. Examples for this kind of activities include financial analysis, accounting, supply chain management, and in the recent years even sales and E-Commerce management. The second part of business is the creative part. This usually covers innovation management, marketing and sales, and human resource management. Basically, the second part takes care of the human aspect of business: How to interact with the people that work inside your company, how to interact with your customers, and how to interact with every person that is related to your company. We will look at both parts: the numeric part, and the artistic part.
This course is designed to provide you the fundamentals of business management and gives you an overview over the whole environment of doing business. You will learn the basic principles about business management and what to pay attention to when you are running a company, when you just founded a company as a startup and you are an entrepreneur, or when you are working in the junior management or middle management of an established company and want to progress in your career.
