Do you find the thought of writing an academic essay overwhelming?
Many high-school and university students lack the basic principles on how to plan, structure and write an academic essay. Many English language proficiency test-takers have a formula for writing an essay, but have limited knowledge of the actual academic essay writing foundations and process required to become good essay writers.
In this course, Prof Mila, a veteran university lecturer, writing expert, and professional editor presents the key principles and steps in the essay writing process.
While working your way through this self-paced course, you will learn about the basic types of academic essays, how to structure a paragraph, choosing a topic, brainstorming for ideas, outlining your essay, writing the first draft, citing sources, and revising your essay. We also take a quick look at the five most important elements of good academic essay writing.
All the lecturers are supported by easy-to-understand slides, which you can also download from the resources folder. There are nine interactive quizzes – one for each section – to test your knowledge of the material. There are additional resources given in each section of the course, including hand-picked links to useful websites, examples, textbooks, and downloadable materials to use and refer to during your own essay writing process.
There is a plethora of writing courses and sites on the internet with tips, theory and examples of academic writing, but it can be very difficult finding the most suitable and efficient sources for your essay writing process. This course will enable you to understand and apply the basics of academic essay writing, with many additional resources to guide your essay writing journey.
Finally, you are welcome to reach out to Prof Mila via email to request a quote for proofreading and feedback once you have completed drafting your essay (or any other paper).
