This course is an introduction to the main concepts in Supply Chain Management. The course looks at three critical areas related to the supply chain. The first aspect covered includes the importance of the supply chain, basic definitions as well as fundamental concepts. One of the important standards, which is the SCOR model of representing the supply chain provides a process abstract of supply chain representation.
The second section looks at a typical structure of the supply chain organization. Using an illustration the link between the different processes of the supply chain and the job roles that are required to execute the processes are detailed.
The last section explains the relationship between managing customer relationships and the supply chain. This provides the student with an appreciation of why supply chains of various organizations are structured differently.
