The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) is a comprehensive guide to the fundamental concepts, principles, and practices of project management. The seventh edition of the PMBOK Guide was released in 2021, and it includes a number of significant changes from previous editions.
This crash course will provide you with a high-level overview of the key concepts and principles of project management as defined in the PMBOK Guide 7th Edition.
In this crash course, you will learn the 12 principles and 8 performance domains of project management as defined in the PMBOK Guide 7th Edition.
In the second part of the course, I will be joined by Roy Schilling, CSP, CSM, PMI-ACP and the PMP graduates from the Project Leadership Institute to thoroughly analyze the PMBOK Guide Seventh Edition from an Agile, Hybrid and Predictive perspective. A great refresher for CAPM exam students taking the new 2023 CAPM Exam and PMP students alike.

Team – The project team is essential to the success of the project. Project managers must create a high-performing team and build trust and cooperation among team members.
Stakeholders – Stakeholders are the people or organizations that have an interest in the project. Project managers must identify all of the stakeholders, understand their needs, and develop plans to meet those needs.
Value – The project must deliver value to the organization. This means that the project must meet the organization’s needs and objectives.
Systems thinking – Project managers must consider the project as a system, with all of its interrelated parts. This means that project managers must understand how changes in one part of the project can impact other parts of the project.
Leadership – Project managers must be leaders and facilitators. They must be able to motivate and inspire the team, and they must be able to resolve conflicts.
Tailoring – The project must be tailored to the specific needs of the organization. This means that project managers must consider the organization’s culture, resources, and goals when planning and executing the project.
Quality – The project must meet the quality requirements. This means that the project must produce products or services that meet the organization’s standards.
Complexity – Projects are complex and require a holistic approach. This means that project managers must consider all aspects of the project, including the technical, organizational, and human factors.
Risk – Risks must be identified, assessed, and managed. This means that project managers must identify potential risks, assess the likelihood and impact of those risks, and develop plans to mitigate the risks.
Adaptability and Resilience – The project must be adaptable and resilient to change. This means that project managers must be prepared for changes in the project’s environment, such as changes in the market, the technology, or the organization.
Change – Change is inevitable and must be managed. This means that project managers must be prepared for changes in the project, and they must have a plan for managing those changes.
