This course will teach you how to develop presentations in English. It will help you organise your presentation and use adequate language to facilitate understanding on the part of your audience. In the first class you will learn what a presentation is and what presentations are used for. In the second class you will learn how to develop an effective definition while giving a presentation. In the third class you will learn how to use the basic descriptive structure most presenters use in oral presentations. In the fourth class you will be acquainted with the strategies speakers use to signal their speech for effectiveness, namely by using adequate tenses, signposting devices and linguistic strategies to engage their audiences. During the course there will be explanatory videos as well as tasks to help you understand fully the basics of presentations in English. All videos will be accompanied by a script and supporting bibliography to facilitate the intake of new content. You will also see how presenters use these presentation cues in different presentations from different disciplines to illustrate the notions developed in the course. By the end of the course you will be expected to have learned how to create your own basic oral presentation effectively and you will have tools to monitor your own performance
