Sales and marketing are the lifeblood of just about any organization. If you are just starting up a new enterprise you need to have a working knowledge of how the product or service is going to be delivered to the public. A logistics analysis may be necessary to determine the strengths and weaknesses are and then design a promotion around a central plan. Sales and marketing are two different things. The function of marketing is to draw the customers in. Whereas, the function of sales is to close the deal. While sales focuses on closing deals and generating revenue, the marketing department encompasses a broader range of activities to create awareness so as to generate leads, and build customer relationships. If one plans to start their own business, they don’t necessarily need an actual diploma, they need the knowledge. The curriculum contained herein is designed to give a broad knowledge of the many different sales techniques and an understanding of the basic principles of marketing. Sales requires speaking skills and an understanding of the product they are selling or the service they are providing. The course examines how functional areas of sales and marketing are structured, sales skills, communication skills, and business decision-making capability. When it comes to sales and marketing, there is no one right way to do anything. There are as many different approaches as there are different opportunities. The goal of every sales and marketing department is to synthesize the information and extrapolate from that information what is necessary to achieve their end sales and marketing goal.
