In this course I will show you how you can approach drawing fur in colored pencil three different ways. I believe it’s important to always try different mediums to try out combinations and see what you can create!
We will use the same image of fur for all three styles. First we will start with creating texture by etching your paper before adding the colored pencil, Then we will create a marker base layer for the second drawing and a watercolor base for the third.
We will go over the process of layering pencil, building texture, creating correct values, and realism.
The class project is to draw realistic fur three separate ways, using a different medium and/or tool for each one.
Project:
First, we will create detail before putting the pencil down by using an Etching tool to indent into the paper. Then we will add the pencil layers on top
The Second fur section we will create the base layer using markers, This process can speed up the application of the pencil while also adding a vibrant saturation.
The Final fur section we will use Watercolor Pencils to create the base layer before going ahead with the colored pencils for the remaining layers.
