The feedback control loop is the most widely used loop in industry to control processes in oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. The PID controllers play an important role to take actions to make the process running smooth and return it back to steady state conditions after a set point change by the operator or a disturbance coming into the picture that causes the process to work out of desired specs. A control loop has to be designed to ensure a good performance avoiding operational issues like instability and oscillation.
