Journey on a magical and virtual trip to the towns of Tumaco, Guapi, Barbacoas, and Timbiquí on the Colombian Pacific Coast. Immerse yourself in this Afro-Colombian culture and learn about each of its traditional practices. Every lesson is guided by local cultural leaders who are delighted to share their unique way of life with the world. This course has a large economic and social benefit to this community, and places the members’ interests at the core of its mission; all income coming from this course goes directly to them. In this virtual journey, guided by traditional knowledgeable locals who will share their stories and knowledge, we will learn:

1. The principles of the “Decimal cimarrona”, a traditional poetry form with teachers from Tumaco and Barbacoas.

2.  The craftwork of weaving with a teacher from Guapi

3. The art of artesanal fishing with a couple teachers from Timbiquí

The Pacific coast of Colombia is a region that has been affected by the Colombian armed conflict, but its cultural richness is unmeasurable. This course was created by Marimbea and co-financed by the program “Territorios de Oportunidad” to share in this abundance. Once you enroll, you’re contributing to the generation of wealth to the knowledgeable cultural locals of these four towns that were a part of this project.

Acompáñanos en un viaje mágico y virtual a los pueblos de Tumaco, Guapi, Barbacoas y Timbiquí en la costa pacífica colombiana. Sumérgete en esta cultura afrocolombiana y conoce cada una de sus prácticas tradicionales. Cada lección está guiada por líderes culturales locales que están encantados de compartir su estilo de vida único. Este curso tiene un gran beneficio económico y social para esta comunidad, y coloca los intereses de los miembros en el centro de su misión; todos los ingresos provenientes de este curso van directamente a sus protagonistas. En este viaje virtual, guiado por lugareños con conocimientos tradicionales que compartirán sus historias y conocimientos, aprenderemos a:

1. Los principios básicos del “Decimal cimarrona”, poesía tradicional con maestros de Tumaco y Barbacoas.

2. La artesanía del tejido con una maestra de Guapi

3. El arte de la pesca artesanal con una pareja de maestros de Timbiquí

La costa pacífica de Colombia es una región que ha sido afectada por el conflicto armado colombiano, pero su riqueza cultural es inconmensurable. Este curso fue creado por Marimbea y cofinanciado por el programa “Territorios de Oportunidad” para compartir esta abundancia. Una vez que te inscribes, estás contribuyendo a la generación de riqueza para los conocedores de la cultura local de estos cuatro pueblos que formaron parte de este proyecto.
