Level 1 – Story 1 Tad is a heart-warming story about a 7-year old little boy who moved from the city and now lives on a farm with his mother and father and their cat, Tat.
Tad loves his life on the farm but misses his friends he left behind in the city.
The story background begins with Tad longing to visit his friends in his old neighborhood and wanting to make plans to visit when school was out for the year.
He talks to his mom and dad and they all make arrangements to visit their old neighborhood, including Tat, who finds a new feline friend. Both cats bond instantly and they run off into the neighborhood. All the children run to find them and they are finally found behind several boxes in an alley waiting for an unsuspecting mouse to come wandering by.
While in the city, every one has a wonderful visit. Tad, mom and dad along with Tat and his new friend, Alley Cat, return back to the farm.
This story tells of farm life and all the adventures three curious boys are capable of while living and working on a farm. It shows the many struggles that farmers are asked to endure including the lack of rain needed to grow crops.
It explains, in simple and understandable child language, how we get milk, how crops are grown and harvested and the basic life cycle of a farm.

• Home Fun activities and Parent Insights
All lectures (stories) in Level 1 are the basics of the early intervention reading process and teaches all the letters of the English alphabet, how they are written, what they sound like, how they’re used in making words and sentences and a host of other aspects needed for the young student.
Level 1 Story 1 Tad 1, is part of a series of courses for the preschool and kindergarten child and teaches all the needed reading and writing skills for a successful entrance into kindergarten.
Each story is ‘broken down’ into easily managed sections a parent and child can easily navigate and study.
Each modulehas its own collections of videos and instructions to successfully accomplish the activities leading to fluent reading and writing.
All levels and stories consists of nine defined learning steps within each story. Those steps are:
MODULE 1
Step 1 – Main Idea or Value Theme. The Main Idea is the overall arching concept within the lecture and teaches a student about citizenship, respect, kindness, avoiding accidents, helping to keep track of younger brothers and sisters, etc., plus many more. Value Themes provide a character value needed by all students.
In addition, all 68 stories have a Main Idea or Value Theme designed to instill into a child quality individual personal characteristics, such as:
-
being kind while training my pet
-
taking responsibility for my actions
-
helping others
-
using common sense reasoning
-
preparing for the unexpected
-
keeping promises
-
appreciation of parents
-
watching out for family members
plus many other themes needed in today’s society
Step 2 – Prestory and Background.Step 2 continues with the story background, providing an outstanding learning opportunity for any child to more fully understand what they’ll be reading about. A proven educational concept, is having a background to draw upon for the young reader, provides a foundation for what will be learned later in the lesson.
Step 3 – Listening to the Story Narrated Without Interruption,is where the student can listen to the audio narration and see the same words on the computer’s screen, thereby being able to associate letters and words with spoken sounds. This further teaches the student what combined written letters and words have meaning in language, either written or spoken. This is the narration of the structured story and the main section of each story lesson and it’s always followed with many activities for the student to enhance the learning to read process.
MODULE 2
Step 4 – Phonics, Writing and Spelling, which includes phonological awareness, takes a deep dive into the many reading activities needed to become a successful reader; phonics, writing, spelling, vocabulary and speaking.
These activities begin with simple and easy to accomplish learning lessons/tasks and progresses with small steps throughout the entire CompuRead Multi-sensory Reading Program. This allows the student to learn at their own pace, and not at the many times faster pace of an entire class.
This is critical for the young learner to master the sounds and blends of letters and learning how words are woven together in the writing process. Proper spelling is highly emphasized.
Step 5 – Fiction/Nonfiction Writing. Many opportunities are presented throughout CompuRead for the student to express what is being learned through the written word.
Step 6 – Vocabulary and Expressive Speaking which includes three levels of comprehension; Literal, Inference, and Critical. Having an excellent command of vocabulary and being able to express it effectively is an indicator of outstanding future success.
Consider this; if a student reads a word and does not understand the meaning of that word in the sentence context, he/she will never become a good reading with outstanding comprehension. Word comprehension and understanding the word definitions that many English words have, is critical to becoming an accomplished reader. CompRead excels at teaching the many meanings of words.
Consider purchasing the complete collection of “Wall Charts” that CompuRead has. These charts provide an excellent collection of words and their meanings for any reader to more fully understand the many meanings of English words.
MODULE 3 –works with Science, Story Mapping and activities to be accomplished in the home with parents and siblings.
Step 7 – Science Background –is especially designed for the young mind and to enhance the knowledge of the story’s subject and provides further content to expand the student’s learning experience.
Step 8 – Story Mapping. A fun and challenging way for a student to learn about the mechanics and process of writing and how a story is actually put together, and…
Step 9 – Home Fun – There’s all kinds of activities that can be done at home, with parents or siblings that can enhance the learning to read process.
