This course is about people, and how to bring the best out of people under a project environment. The focus however is not on the project so much but on those who make things happen. This course is not about managementper se, it is about leadership – in its truest sense. What is the difference you may ask? As one of the great management gurus, Peter Drucker once said “Management is about doing things right, leadership is about doing the right things” (earlier also quoted by Warren Bennis). Spend a few moments thinking about this. This course, is primarily aimed at “Doing the right things, right”, which is really combining the two. The content was developed over a span of a decade of my research, teaching and training at various institutions and organisations and finally it has matured enough to be shared with you.
In this course you will develop the necessary leadership skills to effectively lead projects and people. It is about understanding the most important element in project management, the human element. Why? Because it is people that make things happen, not processes or tools. If you understand people more effectively you can help them use the processes and tools to get there. This course is also about identifying and understanding the root causes of problems rather than what seems to be the problem on the surface.
You may discover that many aspects of this course can be applied to beyond the project environment in leading self and relationships in other contexts. A leader paths the way of the future.
